Two studios is a renovation of two existing outbuildings in Hillsborough, North Carolina. The existing buildings, which were previously used for storage and woodworking, were dilapidated and failing. The renovation thoughtfully transforms, reinforces, and revitalizes them. New landscaping surrounds the structures with native flowers, grasses, and trees, providing subtle vibrance and wildlife habitat. The dark stained wood siding provides a backdrop to the landscaping and an understated unity between the two buildings.

Building one, closest to the street, is transformed into a home office workspace with a storage wall of cabinets which include a murphy bed, allowing the space to easily transition into a guest suite when necessary. The windows face toward the primary residence and outdoor space.

Building two is sited further from the street and is used primarly as a yoga and workout space, with an attached storage room.

A new wooden deck connects the two structures, filling the space between and providing a space to rest and gather.
